Frequent flyers to get free facelifts

February, 2010

Granted, this isn't exactly about Asian plastic surgery or even the world of medical tourism. But it could be an indication of what's to come.

The Finnish have just announced a most innovative way for travelers to use their frequent flyer miles. Members of Finnair Plus can now redeem miles for plastic surgery.

The reward requirements are rather steep, and not every passenger will be calling tomorrow to set up an appointment for free surgery.

A pair of bigger breasts run 3.18 million miles, or 120 Business Class round trips between New York and Helsinki. But you can do that, right?

Hair transplantation (3.2 million miles) and facelift (4.64 million miles) surgery are also offered, but no word yet on the mileage costs for double eyelid surgery or calf reduction.

Forget about redeeming your miles in Seoul, Singapore, or Los Angeles. The surgery must be in Helsinki.

But could Korean Air or Singapore Airlines be far behind?
