While augmentation of the lips with injectable fillers or biocompatible implants is performed commonly in patients of European descent, some Asian patients seek just the opposite effect to balance the lower half of the face.
Asian lips are typically fuller than in the Occidental, with an average thickness in the midline of almost twice that of Occidental lips. Lip fullness is greatest in those from Southeast Asia.
