Cosmetic Plastic Surgery in Seoul
Seoul, officially the Seoul Special City, is the capital and largest city of South Korea with a population of over ten million. The Seoul National Capital Area, which includes the major port city of Incheon and most of Gyeonggi-do, has over twenty-five million inhabitants and is Korea's economic, political, and cultural center.
Seoul's infrastructure is one of the world's most technologically advanced. Its subway is the world's third largest and serves over two billion passengers each year.
To the west sits Incheon International Airport, the main international air terminal that has been rated the world's best airport for several years.
Apgujeong-dong, Seoul's glitzy center of fashion, is filled with plastic surgery offices, dermatology clinics, hair salons, high-end shopping, and just about any type of business associated with the beauty industry.
More than half of South Korea's cosmetic surgery clinics are located here, many with waiting rooms that resemble discos with molded polycarbonate chairs, pink neon floor lights, and names that sound more like boutique dress shops than medical facilities.
Most plastic surgery practices are single doctor ventures, but a few are huge commercial enterprises occupying entire tall buildings. Vaguely surreal, the area had become a favorite place for tourists to visit and photograph.
"Plastic surgery in Korea" is essentially synonymous with "plastic surgery in Seoul."
Home to the largest plastic surgery clinic in Asia and one of the world's most dense congregations of cosmetic practices, Seoul has been called the "Mecca" of plastic surgery.
