The procedure includes

• liposuction of the lower buttocks, thigh, and calf

• selective neurectomy to decrease calf circumference

• powered phlebectomy (use of a protected blade to grind up bulging varicose veins which are then suctioned away through tiny skin incisions).

Since most or all of the improvement in the buttocks and thigh comes from liposuction, the higher the patient's body fat percentage, the more noticeable the result.
