Text Advertising

We do not manage the text ads shown in the "AdChoices" sidebars (demonstrated at left) found on most pages of our site. To display a text ad in these sections, you must use the self-serve Google Adwords program and specify a managed placement.

To do so, you must already have an active AdWords account or you may set up a new account at Google. Payment is made directly to Google. Your budget may be low or high, and there is no required minimum monthly spend.

To target our site, a section on our site, or a particular page on our site, you will need to adjust your Campaign settings on the Google AdWords control panel.

1. On your "Campaigns" page, enable your desired AdWords campaign to run on the "Display Network".

2. Select "Managed Placements" instead of automatic placement.

3. Specify either our entire site or specific page(s) you wish to target by entering the URL.

4. Specify your desired bid amount for this managed placement (which you may vary per URL). Since Google PPC ad are displayed using a "competitive auction" protocol, the amount of your bid is a major factor in determining whether or not your ad is actually shown. The higher your bid, the more likely your ad will appear on our site.
